Benny Benson, P.E.

CEO & PRESIDENT

Benny Benson is co-founder and president of ENERGYneering Solutions, Inc. Benny has been providing renewable energy solutions to the biofuels market for over 25 years. His experience includes engineering, controls, operations & maintenance, construction, and development of biogas projects both domestic and abroad. Benny holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering & Computer Science from the Colorado School of Mines.

Julie Benson

CFO

Julie Benson is co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of ENERGYneering Solutions, Inc. Julie brings over 25 years of experience in the biofuels industry to ESI and is a vital asset to the management team. Prior to founding ESI, Julie was a Mechanical Engineer for SCS Engineers for 18 years. Julie holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering & Computer Science from the Colorado School of Mines.

William Song, P.E.

Director of Engineering

With over 18 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, William Song has developed a wide ranging portfolio that reaches into all aspects of the bio-fuels market. His technical expertise includes an in-depth understanding of process, mechanical, electrical, controls, and environmental compliance for biogas utilization facilities. William has been involved in over 75 diverse projects that include: power generation, renewable natural gas conversion, LFG collection/control, CNG vehicle fuel, woody biomass, environmental compliance, and other wide ranging technical skills. William holds a BS, Mechanical Engineering from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea and a Master of Mechanical Engineering from SUNY Buffalo.

Pete Terzo

Director of Operations

Pete Terzo is the Director of Operations at ESI. With over 30 years of experience in advanced engine diagnostics and operations, Pete’s vast knowledge and expertise in O&M solutions encompasses site commissioning, strategic planning, new product introduction, start-up operations, operational troubleshooting, and operational streamlining.

Steve Asson

Controller

As Controller, Steve manages the accounting operations for ESI. Steve’s responsibilities include oversight of all accounting activity, production of financial statements and management reports, coordination with outside agencies, management of corporate assets, and management of financial and banking relationships. Steve has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Management from Southern Illinois University and 30 years of business and accounting experience.

Royle Johnson, P.E.

Electrical Engineering Manager

Royle Johnson is the Electrical Engineering Manager at ESI and has led ESI’s team of electrical and controls engineers through the completion of numerous successful biogas projects. Royle has been a licensed professional electrical engineer for 21 years and has experience in high and low voltage power distribution, substation design, utility coordination, PLC controls engineering/programming, grounding system design, and more. In addition to his experience as an engineer, Royle has 39 years of experience as a licensed journeyman and supervisor/administrator electrician in Washington and Oregon.

Jeff Friesen, P.E.

Project Manager

Jeff Friesen is a Project Manager and founding member of ESI. Jeff has ten years of experience in development, design, and construction for renewable energy projects including: landfill and digester gas collection and control, biogas cleanup, biofuel-to-energy, high BTU/RNG conversion, woody biomass thermal energy, and hydroelectricity. As a project manager, Jeff is involved technically and managerially at all stages of a project from feasibility study to startup. Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from George Fox University.

Jesse Drake

Operations Coordinator

As the Operations Coordinator at ESI, Jesse is responsible for the technical oversight and coordination of all of ESI’s operations and maintenance programs. Jesse’s role includes oversight and coordination for all of ESI’s major maintenance scheduling, O&M budgeting, 3rd party MM services, environmental compliance reporting, cylinder head rebuild programs, custom products sales, and more. Jesse holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska.

Debra Vanderhoef

HR Manager & Executive Assistant

Deb Vanderhoef is the Human Resource Manager and Executive Assistant to the CEO at ESI. As HR Manager, Deb is responsible for the day to day management of administrative policies, procedures and programs at ESI, including payroll and benefits administration for multi-state operations. Prior to working in the renewable energy sector, Deb worked for twelve years in commercial construction for a general contractor where she held multiple positions from receptionist to project assistant, coordinating subcontractors, schedules, budgets and contracts for million-dollar construction jobs.

Elysia Zarate

Environmental Health & Safety Manager

Environmental Health & Safety Manager Elysia Zarate is the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) manager at ESI. Safety is the top priority for ESI in all of our operations and Elysia has been instrumental in leading the company to outstanding annual safety and incident records. In her 5 years at ESI, Elysia has managed and overseen the safety programs and procedures for 15+ gas-to-energy facilities while also overseeing all safety programs within the ESI home office and maintenance shops. As the EHS manager, Elysia conducts inspections, identifies and anticipates issues and develops corrective action plans to insure compliance with applicable safety, health, and environmental regulations including OSHA, EPA, HAZMAT, and state and local regulations.

Chris Schaad

Technical Sales Coordinator

Chris Schaad is the Technical Sales Coordinator / Purchasing Agent at ENERGYneering Solutions Inc. As such, Chris plays an integral part in the achievement of company objectives for facility operational performance and product sales. With over 30 years of experience in purchasing and supply chain management, he maintains a proactive approach in reviewing current systems and procedures, and makes recommendations and implements changes where necessary. His daily goal is to lead the company forward in securing quality suppliers of materials and components covering price delivery and quality targets.
